九鐵於去年購買百多部新列車，其中部份是被安排在九廣東鐵行駛，其餘全部屬於2003年投入服務的九廣西鐵。此批列車之車廂內，內設六個38吋的螢幕顯示屏，發布新聞及其資訊。
